Love Your Landscape is proudly owned and operated by Taranaki locals, James and Alyson Tapply. After years of working behind a computer screen, James decided to trade the 9-to-5 grind for his true passion: working in the great outdoors.

With formal qualifications in horticulture and pruning, James combines expertise with a down-to-earth approach, guiding you through every step of the process to ensure your garden thrives and reflects your vision.

James Tapply

Owner/Director

James is the founder of Love Your Landscape and the kind of person who genuinely loves getting his hands dirty. Originally from the UK, he made New Zealand home over a decade ago, settling in New Plymouth with his wife Alyson, their Cocker Spaniel Kora, and now their young son Leo – a proud local who already enjoys “helping” out in the garden.

After leaving the rat race behind in search of a more fulfilling, outdoors-focused life, James turned his passion for gardens and problem-solving into Love Your Landscape. He’s known for his practical creativity, whether that’s transforming large overgrown spaces or finding clever solutions for small, tricky gardens.

Alyson Tapply

Owner/Director

Alyson works behind the scenes at Love Your Landscape, supporting the business through HR, payroll, and strategic planning. While her hands stay soil-free, Alyson will often be the voice at the end of the phone or sending out invoices to keep the day to day ticking along.

Her career is in travel, where she works as a Business Development Manager for a local tourism business, supporting and growing tourism across Taranaki.

Now expecting their second son, Alyson balances business strategy with a busy family life, providing steady support behind the scenes while the team brings gardens to life on the ground.
